Sarsgaard to play Green Lantern Villain

The upcoming "Green Lantern" movie has completed its own super hero holy trinity (Hero/Love Interest/Villain) because THR is reporting that Peter Sarsgaard has joined the cast and will play bad guy, Dr. Hector Hammond.

In the comic, Hammond is a guy who finds a meteor, gets super brains or something, and takes his daddy issues out on the world. Sounds dramatic.

"Lantern"stars Ryan Reynolds as Power Ring wielder Hal Jordan and Blake Lively as love interest Carol Ferris. Production starts in June and will be directed by Martin Campbell.

Sarsgaard is best known for his roles in "An Education," "Garden State" and "Orphan."
